Driving up from the Bay Area, you could tell there was something going on - cars would drive by loaded to the gills with old couches, odd appliances and the like - looking for all the world like refugees from the dust bowl, except there would almost always be a brightly decorated bike tied to the load, or as you can see by the pictures below, whole decorated cars. It's a scenic trip up - since I visited friends in the Palamino Valley, I chose to drive up past the aptly named Pyramid Lake on the way.
