West end of the Valley in the evening

Yosemite National Park is the oldest Park in the country - having initially been deeded to the state of California by a bill passed by Congress and signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln in June of 1864. In spite of the fact that I've been to Yosemite dozens of times - the last time was just last summer, it is always worth the four hour drive from the Bay Area. Usually I go backpacking - this time I had a friend who wanted to do the tourist thing in the main valley. Though we've had an extremely dry year, the falls were still looking good, and the weather was very pleasant - even by California standards.
